There are thousands of books on public speaking out there. This one is different. “Secrets From The Greenroom,” from Pittsburgh-based Comedian and Corporate Speaker, David Michael, focuses on one of the most overlooked and important aspects of any presentation – the audience. In his new book, David takes you inside the greenroom and shares tricks of the trade, including his experiences and advice he’s received from top comedians of our generation, such as Jay Leno, Drew Carey, Dennis Miller, Howie Mandel, Steve Harvey and Lewis Black.
The entertaining, effective book is for anyone who, at some point, has to speak in front of an audience. “Secrets From The Greenroom” is available to buy here.

“People will pay more to be entertained than educated.” – Johnny Carson
The latest generation of audiences has been conditioned to learn a different way because of television. They are used to getting their information packaged in the form of entertainment. I believe this is the most important aspect of an audience that a speaker can be aware of. If you want to be an effective speaker, you must accept this fact and add edutainment to your presentation. Crowds today have grown up with Schoolhouse Rock!, twenty-four-hour comedy networks, YouTube, and funny ads that people talk about over the water cooler. Kids do their homework while listening to their iPod. They expect a little spice. Give it to them, whether it’s a joke, a prop, music, or even a little magic. It’s all edutainment.
